Privacy Policy
EavesJam is a private song timeline app. It uses the iPhone microphone and Apple's ShazamKit framework to identify songs the user chooses to capture.
Summary
EavesJam stores recognized song metadata and listening-session records locally on the user's device. EavesJam does not store raw microphone audio and does not operate a separate recognition server.
Data EavesJam Stores On Device
- Recognized song metadata, such as title, artist, artwork URL, Shazam or Apple Music links when provided, genres, match timing, and confidence when available.
- Listening coverage windows, including listening, no-match, unavailable, and interrupted periods.
- User-created folders, favorites, and notes.
- Monitoring settings, including selected mode and Pulse timing.
- Recent diagnostic events, including audio route, app background/foreground transitions, mic input level classification, interruptions, audio graph setup, matches, and no-match details.
- Battery measurement rows for monitoring sessions, including start/end battery level, charging state, mode, and duration.
This data is intended to stay on the user's device unless a future export, backup, or sync feature is explicitly added and enabled by the user.
Microphone Use
EavesJam asks for microphone permission so it can recognize songs physically reaching the iPhone microphone. Monitoring starts only after the user starts a listening session, and the app shows monitoring state and a Stop control while listening is active.
EavesJam does not store raw audio recordings. It uses the microphone stream for song recognition through ShazamKit and for local input-level diagnostics such as whether the signal was strong, usable, quiet, or very quiet.
ShazamKit And Apple Services
EavesJam uses Apple's ShazamKit framework to match music. ShazamKit and related Apple services are provided by Apple. EavesJam does not control Apple's processing of ShazamKit requests or Apple's privacy practices.
If ShazamKit returns Apple Music or Shazam metadata, EavesJam may display that metadata and links in the app.
Data EavesJam Does Not Collect
- No EavesJam account is required.
- The user's local EavesJam library is not uploaded to an EavesJam server.
- Personal data is not sold.
- Users are not tracked across apps or websites.
- Raw microphone audio is not stored.
- Recognized music data is not used for advertising.
Permissions
EavesJam may request microphone permission, which is required for song recognition. Future versions may request additional permissions only if a user-facing feature needs them, such as export, backup, sync, location-based session labels, or companion-device capture.
Deleting Data
The Settings screen includes a local delete action that removes saved songs, folders, coverage, diagnostics, and battery measurements from the device. Deleting the app from the device also removes the locally stored EavesJam library.
Children's Privacy
EavesJam is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy should be updated whenever EavesJam changes its data practices, including adding accounts, sync, backup, export, analytics, crash reporting, cloud storage, location, Apple Music library access, or third-party SDKs.
